CHANEL and Brunello Cucinelli join forces with a cashmere supplier

In March 2022, the Italian brand Brunello Cucinelli announced that it was taking a 43% stake in the Cariaggi Lanificio Spa factory, which specializes in the production of Made in Italy cashmere . Estimated amount of the operation: 15.05 million euros.
A year later, the brand sold 18.5% of its shares to Chanel . The Cariaggi family, founders of the workshop, sell 6% at the house in rue Cambon. In total, Chanel and Brunello Cucinelli therefore now share 49% of the capital equally (24.5% each), where the Cariaggi family remains the majority at 51%. The amount of the transaction was not disclosed.
With this alliance, the two houses demonstrate common interests in their respective production chains, while Bruno Pavlovsky, president of Chanel SAS, evokes in a press release the preservation of know-how, qualitative excellence and sustainable production as priorities shared by the two claws.
Faced with production and supply issues, luxury houses are multiplying secure investments in their supply chain in order to support the growing demand for luxury items.
This is the first time that Chanel, which has shares in some forty manufacturers, has teamed up with another fashion brand for this type of operation. Over the past two years, the group has picked up the pace by approaching seven companies, including the acquisition of a majority stake in the capital of the Italian company Paima, which specializes in knitwear and the design of outdoor clothing.
